PREFACE.
With this seventh volume of Somerset Marriage Registers the total number of parishes dealt with in this County now amounts to fifty-nine.
The first two Registers in this volume, Angersleigh and Pitminster, have been transcribed by Mr. Arthur Eastwood, of Leigh Court, Taunton ; for the rest Mr. Seager has been responsible. 13792^0
As before, contractions have been made use of —

b.=bachelor or single man. /zV.=marriage licence. d.=daughter of.
The reader must remember that the printed volumes are not "evidence" in the legal sense. Certificates must be obtained from the local clergy in charge of the Registers.
The Editors have to acknowledge the ready willingness of the Clergy in affording facilities for making the needful transcripts for the printers. Their names are given under the respective parishes. The assistance of others who may be willing to aid in transcribing Registers will be gladly wel- comed, for it is only by volunteer work that it is possible to print our Parish Registers.
Volume VIII is in the Press and will be issued shortly. It is the Editors' wish to print two volumes annually, and thus to make a steady and substantial progress in the work of preserving our ancient Parish Registers from the risks of destruction or loss to which they are constantly exposed, even in the best circumstances, so long as their contents remain in manuscript only.

Marriages at Angersleigh,
1693 to 1812.
Note. — Volume I, intituled "Liber Parochiae de Angersleigh, 1693," consists ot 16 parchment leaves stitched together, of which the first and the last are blank. Size 9|in. by 6jin. The condition and handwriting are generally good. It was bound in 1905 with the Baptisms commencing 1693 and the Burials in 1678, in a dark morocco cover.
Volume II is the usual statutory book, prescribed by the Hardwicke Marriage Act.

1542 to 1812.
Note. — Volume I consists of twenty-two parchment leaves lofin. by
Sin. The whole have been carefully pressed out and bound, with
the Births and Burials for the corresponding period, in rough
calf. The Register commences in 1542 and extends to 1700.
The entries from 1542 to 1598 were re-copied from the original
book, no trace of which is to be found. Volume II consists of fourteen parchment leaves I2jin. by 9|in., the last three pages of which are blank. They are bound, with the Christenings and Burials for the corresponding period, in old calf. The Register commences in 1701 and extends to Lady Day

Note. — Volume I is a long narrow tolio on vellum, bound in vellum, with two clasps. In very good state, and mostly very well written. Contents: Baptisms, 1670-1797; Marriages, 1671-1744; Burials, 1670 to 1678, and 1761 to 1812 ; some in double columns. The first entry is written half-way down the left side of the page, and is followed by three faded entries for 1678. A piece of vellum, with seven entries of Baptisms (1669-1682) of children of John Thomas, is sewn on to the fly-leaf.
Volume II is the folio of printed forms of 1754, containing Banns and Marriages; bound in sheep, in very good condition.
