You were the first to have a Game Boy in color, Magic Eye Books were all the rage, Pokemon entered the scene and Buzz Lightyear and Woody starred in Toy Story. When you were ten years old, LeAnn Rimes was voted best new recording artist and Sheryl Crow's If It Makes you Happy topped the charts.

As you graduate from high school it is a time to look back at the memories you have created and look forward to new challenges and a new beginning. You marshaled in a new era for Silver Lake Regional High School by leading the way into our new building. Dear Class of 2006,

On our first day of high school we entered the doors of our "old" Silver Lake as confused freshman who were expecting the worst We figured these next four years would he the longest years of our life and it would take forever to graduate As we hushed from the White House to the Satellite Cafeteria^ then through the hitter cold to die Red House, we constandy muttered lean \ wait to he a senior!" Well 2006 has finally arrived and it's our year to he at die top.

As cliche as it may sound diese four years have quickly flown hy and as you read tfiis high school will soon be only a memory. Along the way we've experienced numerous humps in die road where we couldn't help hut say "f can't wait to graduate," and now our wish has hecome a reality. The familiar environment where we spent die last four years of our life is nowpst a place to visit The teachers and peers wehave hecome accustomed to greeting every morning are no longer going to he daily faces in our world The scary diought diat we've finally matured enough to ventureoffon our own has finally set im soon we head out into die "real world" Our teachers staff, and administrators have prepared us to their hest ahilityand it is now oui^ ph to make diem proud

I only hope that each and every one of us will he ahle to leave Silver Lake widi somediing special whether it is a close friendship, a teacher's influence that helped you become who you are today, or a high school memory that will forever stay as vivid in your mind as die day it happened. Silver Lake Class of 2006

We are the Class of 2006.

We know what life was like before 9/11. We used to search everywhere for retired beanie babies. We know the names and colors of the Power Rangers. We know that Pegs and Stammers are toys, not alternative bands. Our ultimate comebacks were "As if and "Whatever. " We have instructed people to "Talk to the hand. " Leonardo and Michaelangelo remind us ofNinja Turtles instead of classic painters. We tried to keep Giga Pets alive for a month or more. We watched TV shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple, GUTS, Slime Time Live, and Figure it Out (and some of us were actually on these shows). We knew all the Spice Girls' real names along with their Spice names. We practiced perfecting the Beavis and Butt-Head laugh for hours on end. We asked for more allowance by saying "Show me the money!! " We owned a Skip-It and tried to set the record on it. We thought Taylor Hanson was a girl. We remember being in line for Titanic at least twice. We considered Nintendo 64 to have amazing graphics. We watched South Park when our parents weren't home. We danced the Macarena countless times. We put "Dude" into every sentence possible. We learned about American History from Forrest Gump. We remember back when people had pagers, but no cell phone and just can 't understand how they sun'ived without one. We remember when Brimey Spears first became a star. We read and watched the l\dagic School Bus. We were early fans of the show Friends. The new Simpsons episode was the highlight of our week. We created pictures with a Lite Brite. We don 't remember life much before the internet, but we do remember playing with legos and barbies until the age of the computer. We tried dying our hair with Kool-Aid or lemon juice. We wore platform shoes and bell-bottom jeans the second time they were "in. " We remember actually listening to music on cassette tapes and watching movies on VHS tapes. We read "Goosebumps" late at night. We did D.A.R.E. in elementary school and learned how to say no to drugs. We remember when MTV actually showed mostly music videos. We used slang like LOL and BTW while talking online. We remember the "millennium craze" when everyone celebrated the millennium a year early, and we remember the Y2K scare, when everyone thought the world was going to end because of a computer problem.

We were the children of the '90s.
